Missed out on a great .com domain in the past? Well, as of today, you can now register a .co domain name! .CO Internet S.A.S announced today that .co names are now available to the general public through several domain name Registrars.
One of the biggest advantages to a .co name, besides the possible type-in traffic generated when a user forgets to type the ‘m’ in .com, is the fact that .co is widely recognized as more than 20 countries utilize it within their ccTLDs, including .co.uk (UK) and .co.jp (Japan).
.Co domain names are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, with many already taken during the sunrise and landrush pre-registration phases. It’s reported that as of July 9th, .co had registered or taken applications for more than 26,000 domains.
.co is proving already to be a popular choice of large companies, with Overstock.com announced their purchase of “O.co” for the price of $350,000!
