Domain Names – The Future or the Past: a presentation presented by Victor H. Pitts of DomainIt at the Vancouver TRAFFIC Conference in June 2010.
This presentation takes a look at domain names and the domain name market in comparison to the popularity of social media (ie. Facebook and Twitter) and the potential threat of social media usernames. Questions are raised in regards to the possibility of technological or media innovation taking over the role of domain names with arguments made against this possibility as well. It also covers the possible alternative uses for domain names and how they can be merged with social media and other technological innovations to enhance their usage rather than to their detriment.
