When PGMedia requested that their name servers be added to Network Solution’s root-server, they had no idea it would lead to battling the National Science Foundation. After filing an anti-trust suit against Network Solutions (who now claims to have full ownership of a database that most say is public domain because it’s construction was overseen by a government agency), the two companies were about to settle out of court and Network Solutions was about to give in. That’s when the National Science Foundation said “no”. Now PGMedia’s fight is with the NSF, taking place only months before the NSF is scheduled to withdraw its involvement from the process.
