Three Registrars Lose ICANN Accreditation

ICANN sent non-renewal notices to three Domain Registrars for failing to comply with the Registrar Accreditation Agreement. The three Registrars include South American Domains (namefrog.com), Simply Named Inc. (SimplyNamed.com), and Tahoe Domains Inc.

According to the letters, Simply Name Inc. and Tahoe Domains lost accreditation for “failing to submit an electronic copy of a database to ICANN or a reputable escrow agent approved by the Registrar and ICANN, and failure to pay accreditation fees”.

South American Domains was notified of their lost accreditation for failing to provide “an interactive webpage and a port 43 WHOIS service providing free public query-based access to up-to-date data concerning all active Registered Names sponsored by Registrar for each TLD in which it is accredited.”

According to ICANN’s letters, the Registrars can reapply for renewal of their accreditation if they comply with their Registrar Accreditation Agreement obligations.
