Tushar Gandhi, great-grandson of the freedom fighter, encourages Indians to register .in domains rather than .com. The National Center for Software Technology in India estimates that of the 300,000 domains registered in India, only 1% of registered .in instead of .com. According to Gandhi, Indians have little pride in being Indian. Studies show the problem lies in the extra paper work and hoops that domain registrants must go through to register .in domains compared to the ease of registering .com’s.
