As we mentioned in January, Telnic’s plan to offer internationalized .tel domain names was approved by ICANN. The Registry has now announced that they will launch their IDN registration in 16 languages on June 15th.

Telnic does have plans to launch more internationalized domain names in additional languages as they are approved for IDNs and have received sufficient demand. The internationalized portion is only for the second-level domain as users will still have to type out the third level .tel TLD.
