Back in May of 2009, Tralliance, the .travel Registry, sought approval to sell one and two character .travel domain names. This week, the Registry got the news from ICANN that their request had been approved.
Jumping on the one and two character bandwagon, the Registries for the .jobs and .travel TLDs got a positive response from ICANN regarding their request for selling one and two character domains. Unlike other Registries that have made similar requests though, Tralliance does not plan to sell all of the names and instead will hold some of the domains for itself. The plan for releasing the names includes an auction style process where the highest bidder is awarded the name.
