ICANN De-Accredits Two Registrars

May 18, 2010 in News

ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has once again de-accredited two domain name Registrars for violating the Registrars accreditation agreement. The two Registrars are Mobiline USA Inc. and Western United Domains, Inc.

Both Registrars were sent termination notices by ICANN on May 14.

Mobiline, which operates DomainBonus.com, was warned by ICANN in April that they were in breach of their Registrar accreditation agreement for failing to escrow whois data. Per the agreement, all accredited Registrars are required to escrow the whois data of their domain names with a third party in the case of failure. Later that month, ICANN notified the company that they were in breach of their agreement again for failing to pay their accreditation fees. According to ICANN, the Mobiline owes more than $18,000 in fees.

Western United Domains was notified by ICANN of the same breaches as Mobiline, though ICANN has noted that the company failed to keep accurate contact information on file and may not have received the notices. According to ICANN, Western United owes more than $19,000 in fees.

Both Registrars, along with two other Registrars were put on notice by ICANN in April.
