ICANN appears to want the same type of immunity from national laws that international organizations such as the International Red Cross and International Olympic Committee have enjoyed. A recent report says that they should “explore the private international organization model”. The immunity would make ICANN immune from civil lawsuits, police searches, taxes, and more.
