In a big move for the UK domain registry, Nominet announced that their 2 year fixed registration period for .co.uk domains will change as of May 1, 2012, allowing flexible registrations of .co.uk domains for between 1-10 years.
This change will be welcomed with open arms by .co.uk domain holders. Not only will they have the option to register for single year periods, but by registering or renewing for up to 10 years, they will no longer have to worry about bi-annual renewals, plus there are (small) SEO advantages to registering a domain for a longer period.
