A one-man online operation was recently ordered to attend court hearings in another state in the suit filed by the Hasbro toy company for trademark infringement in the use of the name Clue.com. The non-competitive company owner thought it was unfair, but the Federal judge in Boston believed that since the site advertised to Massachusetts residents (as it did worldwide) that the trial would take place there. Attorneys say that such online jurisdiction will only get more ambiguous until some definitive precedent is set.
